The Indian Creek boys and girls cross country teams kicked off the season last night with some amazing performances at the Decatur Central Hokum Karem 6 kilometer relays and open 3 and 2 kilometer races.
For the open 2 kilometer race, Alaina Perry dominated the field, running away with a second place finish overall in a time of 8 minutes and 44 seconds. Ellianna Cole placed 4th in 9 minutes and 1 second.
For the girls relays, Phoebe Dowty and Ella Taylor kicked off the season with a stellar SECOND place finish overall in the relay, with a time of 20 minutes and 51 seconds, also receiving a Top 10 medal for their efforts. Mattie Key and Lilly Swanson placed 15th overall with a time of 23 minutes and 36 seconds, followed closely by Libby Dowty and Gracie Werden in 16th place at 23 minutes and 49 seconds.
In the girls 3 kilometer race, Hannah Seitzinger ran the lead spot for the Indian Creek girls, placing 39th overall with a time of 14 minutes and 11 seconds. Alli Jackson was close behind her in 42nd place at 14 minutes and 17 seconds, also followed closely by Chelsea Guernsey in 44th with a time of 14 minutes and 25 seconds.
Way to go, runners! This was a very exciting meet and everyone ran well. Our next meet will be another Hokum Karem relay at Greenwood Christian Academy on Friday.
