The 7th grade Lady Braves basketball team came out on top in a hard-fought contest Monday night at Southwestern (Shelby) by a final score of 37-33. The Lady Braves jumped out to an early 10-4 lead at the end of one quarter but had their lead cut to 1 point going into the half. The team found themselves down by 2 going into the final quarter. The Lady Braves were able to come up with some key defensive stops late in the game and hit some crucial jump shots to close out the game with a victory. The team was led offensively by Savannah Hall’s game-high 17 points and 2 steals. Maggie Sheets played a well-rounded game with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Hannah Emenhiser had 5 vital points in the second half to tie the game and then gain the lead for the Lady Braves. The offense was rounded out by Lauren McClanahan’s 3 points, and her defense continues to be strong as she also had 2 blocks. Overall, the entire team showed great effort and will to come together and play with enough intensity to get another win improving to 5-2 on the season. The Lady Braves will be back in action Wednesday as they travel to Greenwood to battle the Woodmen at 5:00 pm.
