The Indian Creek boys and girls cross country teams kicked off the season last night with some amazing performances at the Decatur Central Hokum Karem 6 kilometer relays and open 3 and 2 kilometer races.
For the boys relays, Aaron Spurgeon and Jacob Carter took the top spot for the Indian Creek boys, placing fourth overall with a combined 6 kilometer time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds, and receiving a medal for their top 10 placement. EJ Woodke and Casey Seitzinger were the second team for the Indian Creek boys, placing 15th overall with a combined time of 21 minutes and 21 seconds. Alan Ellis and Jacob Ballew finished 21st overall, with a combined time of 23 minutes and 13 seconds.
In the boys 3 kilometer race, Jack Rominger finished 49th overall, in 12 minutes and 42 seconds, followed closely by Davis Cole in 50th place in 12 minutes and 44 seconds. Nolan Harden was next through the finish, at 58th place in 13 minutes and 2 seconds. Noah Greenwood wasn’t far behind, in 67th place at 13 minutes and 31 seconds.
For the open 2 kilometer race, Benjamin Braughton placed 5th at 9 minutes and 5 seconds. Jacob Stewart ran with such enthusiasm, placing 8th overall in 9 minutes and 12 seconds. Owen Stout ran his race in 10 minutes and 9 seconds, placing 12th overall, with Tyler Lower right on his heels in 13th in 10 minutes and 20 seconds.
Way to go, runners! This was a very exciting meet and everyone ran well. Our next meet will be another Hokum Karem relay at Greenwood Christian Academy on Friday.
