Game Recap
Indian Creek Varsity Softball won it’s first conference game of the season against visiting Knightstown. The Braves jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Dori Knight got things going with a double but got caught stealing third. Sydney Williams singled with a hard grounder up the middle, advanced to second, then third on passed balls and was able to cross the plate on a Knightstown error. Knightstown tied it 1-1 in the top of the second when their center fielder hit an double, then was able to score on the next play when IC made a fielding error. The Braves answered back by scoring two runs in the bottom second on a two-run single by Brittney Dugan. In the fifth inning, Rachel Kyle was walked, stole second, then advanced to third by a line drive single from Micheala Smith. A Knightstown error allowed Kyle to score extending the Braves lead. Key defensive plays of the game include Zoey Gatton making a diving catch in left field in fourth and a double play by Rachel Kyle in the sixth. Knightstown was able to put 2 more runs on the board, but it was not enough and IC won 4-3.
The Braves are back in action Monday at 5:30 when they host Franklin.
